For FY 2007/2008, the JLOCC is proud to award a total of $10,000 in scholarships to these inspiring and promising young adults.
Stephanie Gonzalez is senior at Rosary High School and takes school very seriously. She is involved in St. Joseph's Ballet, volunteers at the Catholic Worker, Kids Connected, attended Leadership Institute for Teens, and participates on her high school cheer squad.
Daisy Lopez, a senior at Garden Grove High School hopes to pursue a degree in Nursing and Sociology at a UC school in the fall. She volunteersw ast UCI Medical Center which has inspired her to work in the medical field. Daisy also participates in St. Joseph's Ballet, serves on the Ambassador Club and Environmental Club at school and is a member of the National Scholastic Honor Society.
Iral Brito is currently a senior at Sage Hill School. She actively participates in the Main Place Christian Fellowship, Back Bay Science Center, volunteering at Pio Pico Elementary School, the cross country team at school. She is considering majoring in sociology, politics or Spanish at either Pitzer College, Loyola Marymount University or Occidental College.
Monserrat Garcia hopes to turn lemons into lemonade. She is involved in the American Red Cross Club at school, volunteers at Loaves & Fishes Soup Kitchen, participated in a political internship with Lou Correa and plays tennis on the Varsity team. She attends Santa Ana High Schoo and participates in the OC Bar Foundation: Higher Education Mentoring Program. Monserrat hopes to attend UCLA, Berkeley or UCI.
Brittany Cuozzo current lyattends Chapman University, majoring in Accounting and will graduate in May 2009. Brittany currently attends college full-time, works almost 40 hours a week and supports her family at home. She is an alumna of St. Joseph's Ballet and currently volunteers with the organization.
Malory Bowen would like to attend Santiago Canyon College. She is currently a senior at Foothill High School. Malory's interest is in the sciences and astronomy.
